Neha Singh Gohil

Communications Officer

Neha Singh Gohil is a Communications Officer at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, providing strategic communications counsel across a range of issues and initiatives. She works closely with the foundation’s Education and U.S. Democracy programs on conceptualizing and implementing external communications, advising on grants related to media and communications, and developing collaborative, field-supporting communications capacities. She also works on foundation-wide initiatives, having served on foundation taskforces on diversity, equity, and inclusion, and helping coordinate organizational trainings and peer learning opportunities.

Neha previously led the Silicon Valley Community Foundation’s Informed Communities Initiative, working to identify and respond to news deserts in California’s Bay Area. Neha’s prior experience blends strategic communications, journalism and policy advocacy, with a strong focus on social justice and civil liberties. She served as Western Region Director for the Sikh Coalition, spearheading policy advocacy and legislative initiatives. She went on to create the content marketing arm of Prialto, a personal productivity startup in the Bay Area. Neha began her career as an attorney at Allen & Overy LLP, where she advocated for corporate and pro bono clients, including 11 detainees held at Guantanamo Bay.

Neha holds a J.D. from Yale Law School and a M.Sc. from Columbia Journalism School. Her writing has been published in a variety of outlets, including The New York Times and The American Prospect. She is a co-author of “Civil Rights in Wartime: The Post-9/11 Sikh Experience.”
