Kristy Bernard Tsadick

Deputy General Counsel

Kristy Bernard Tsadick is Deputy General Counsel at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. She provides legal support for the foundation’s operations and programmatic work, and serves as legal partner for the Cyber Initiative, Environment Program, and the foundation president’s Special Projects portfolio. She also supports communications and corporate governance.

Previously, Kristy worked at the Council on Foundations and in private practice at Caplin & Drysdale in the Washington, D.C., area, where she focused on exempt organizations and political law regulatory and compliance matters. Before becoming an attorney, Kristy was a paralegal at Covington & Burling and a senior legal analyst supporting the government affairs department at a multinational Fortune 15 corporation.

Kristy is originally from New York. She has a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center, where she was staff for the Georgetown Journal of Legal Ethics. She is a member of the Bar in Maryland and Washington, D.C. (inactive), and is registered as in-house counsel for the Hewlett Foundation in California. Kristy has co-authored several online legal training courses available at www.learnfoundationlaw.org and is a regular speaker at philanthropic and legal conferences.
