Marlene Zapata

Marlene Zapata is a Program Associate at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. She supports the Cyber Initiative, a $65 million effort to build a more cohesive cybersecurity field and improve cybersecurity policy-making.

Previously, she was a legislative aide in the Florida House of Representatives where she analyzed public policy and assisted in the drafting of state legislation. Marlene has also worked for the City of Miami Beach Office of the Mayor & Commission, as staff to former U.S. Senator Bob Graham, and on two presidential campaigns.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in health services administration and a master’s degree of public administration from Florida International University, where she taught as an adjunct instructor for the department of public administration.  Marlene volunteers with the Junior League of San Jose, and is an alumna of Emerge California.
