“Leymusoom Mukkuli” will imagine a space for the past and present to converge and create a community process to heal from generational trauma.

The Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco is commissioning artist and anthropologist Heesoo Kwon to create “Leymusoom Mukkuli.” The project imagines a space for our past and present to converge, creating a community process and ritual to heal from generational traumas. The artist will work intensively with Bay Area immigrant communities, diasporic performance artists, and technology advisors to realize the piece. The final performance will incorporate large-scale projections, 3D models of ancestors, live movements, and sound to create a ceremony for both ancestors and event participants.
