Lori Grange

Strategy Officer, Effective Philanthropy

Lori Grange is Strategy Officer in the Hewlett Foundation’s Effective Philanthropy Group. The group guides strategy, evaluation, progress tracking, and listening practices within the foundation; it also makes grants to strengthen nonprofits and the philanthropic sector. Lori partners with program staff across the foundation to create, implement, refresh, and exit strategies and initiatives. She also oversees the foundation’s Bay Area housing work.

Previously, she was a senior director at the Pew Charitable Trusts, where she led the development of new strategies on various state policy issues. Before that, she worked at Equal Justice Works, a nonprofit that creates opportunities for lawyers to transform their passion for equal justice into a lifelong commitment to public service. Lori has been in philanthropy for more than 20 years. She is a UC Berkeley School of Law graduate and a former journalist.
